Our Financial Planning Process

Our Financial Planning Process

Decision Tree Financial strives to educate its clients so that they may make informed decisions about the issues that affect their financial well being.  Education is important for success in any endeavor but with a topic with the ramifications of financial health it is doubly important.

After a meeting to define your relationship Decision Tree Financial and its planners, our advisors use a five step process to help our clients understand their financial opportunity.

These five steps are:

1)     Understand Client Specific Goals and Gather Data – Everyone’s situation and accomplishments are different and everyone has different lifestyles expectations. Obtaining a detailed summary of a client’s current financial status and where they want to be is critical to accomplishment of that goal.

2)     Organize, Analyze and Evaluate Client Financial Status - Are a clients goals and objectives in-line with their means? What is the reality of their situation.  What events or circumstances could sabotage the stated goals.  Where are the opportunities for improvement.

3)     Develop and Present Financial Planning Recommendations and Alternatives - Working with a team of advisors, Decision Tree Financial has expertise in such areas as tax planning, estate planning law, employee and executive benefits, and others.  A financial plan is co-created with the client and their other trusted advisors.

4)     Implement the Plan - Using various financial products and legal documents, the agreed upon course of action is put in place using the correct financial vehicles in order to accomplish specific client goals.

5)     Monitor the Financial Plan – The relationship with our clients does not end once the plan is implemented.  Over time goals and circumstances can evolve.  Have goals changed? Have there been changes in estate or tax law? Are the strategies developed being implemented and carried out according to the plan?  A financial plan is a living document that will evolve with the owner’s intent.
